Marketing Communications Coordinator

What we need
As a part of a Canada-wide team of staff and volunteers, the Marketing Communications Coordinator is the production coordinator for the Marketing and Communications team that operates as an in-house creative agency. The qualified candidate helps produce promotional materials in print and digital formats, on behalf of various internal stakeholders to effectively present an integrated and unified Parkinson Canada brand and messaging for all stakeholder engagement opportunities. The Marketing Communications Coordinator ensures that materials are produced to the agreed specifications (time, budget, formats). The successful candidate demonstrates superior customer service, project management, communications and graphic design skills and experience equally using industry standard tools and technology.
As the successful candidate, you will bring your "can do" attitude to fulfill the following responsibilities:
• Oversee the Parkinson Canada Master Communications Calendar; working closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate the scheduling of all online content and electronic communications across all departments;
• Track production of assets and creative briefs as provided by the Manager, from various stakeholders, following client service and project management best practices;
• Liaise with vendors for distribution of print and branded materials;
• Oversee Parkinson Canada’s catalogue of branded materials including inventory control, order fulfillment and allocation of costs for accounting; manage library of display materials;
• Ensure copyright/consent has been obtained for all image assets used in production of digital communications; support storage and retrieval of assets for Parkinson Canada staff.
• Write and develop compelling communications assets and corporate marketing materials, to support various campaigns and events including: Parkinson Awareness Month, Parkinson Canada SuperWalk, and other campaigns, as required;
• Liaise with other Communications department team members to ensure timely coordination, accuracy and consistency, across all channels for related content;
• Produce assets for digital communications within an integrated marketing communications plan;
• Provide writing, editing and support for content as required;
• Provide communications consulting expertise on projects and help develop content that adheres to graphic standards;
• Develop templates and instructions for staff including corporate stationery (print and electronic versions), master presentation decks, posters; update brand standards manual for same;
• Maintain and update communication resources for internal and community stakeholders, such as support groups and chapters;
• Work closely with staff and content contributors from other departments to populate social channels with appropriate content and messaging, ensuring consistent voice and brand messaging;
• Contribute to the development of annual operating plans for the department to support organizational objectives.
• Facilitate testing and approval process for all digital communications deployed by the department. Track and communicate results to internal stakeholders as required;
• Monitor website for stale content; work with stakeholders to ensure content is current and aligned across multiple channels;
• Participate in onboarding of new staff members to ensure Parkinson Canada brand standards are applied consistently.
• Develop editorial calendar, messaging and visual assets for Parkinson Canada social media channels;
• Liaise with staff from resource development, education, advocacy, research, marketing communications, human resources and local offices to integrate messaging across social channels that engages stakeholders and promotes events, support groups and corporate initiatives;
• Administer social advertising campaigns as required;
• Disseminate social media messages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) that support the social strategy;
• Monitor social media, maintain content across all social platforms; facilitate conversations on behalf of the pan-Canadian organization; and track and report results;
• Ensure the social media policy is followed by internal stakeholders; provide guidance to staff regarding best practices.
What is needed to succeed in this role
• University or college education or equivalent formal post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, or similar discipline;
• Minimum of 3+ years marketing communications, and graphic design experience, with a solid writing background for posters, fact sheets, backgrounders, feature stories, email and web copy;
• Experienced in social and digital media strategy and tactics on behalf of an organization;
• Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills;
• Solid proof reader with a high degree of consistency and accuracy, striving for error-free content at all times;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an aptitude for technology and web platforms;
• Intermediate knowledge of graphic design using Adobe Creative suite;
• Working knowledge and understanding of HTML coding, basic CSS without the use of a WYSIWYG editor;
• Understanding of Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and electronic marketing principles;
• Familiar with online communication legislation, best practices, and audience segmentation;
• Able to learn and apply new technologies with working knowledge of email marketing and digital communication technology platforms such as Blackbaud Convio Luminate Online and Meltwater Engage;
• Excellent interpersonal communications skills, including active listening and effective collaboration skills;
• Ability to multitask, manage multiple deadlines and be flexible to changing priorities;
• High integrity, ability to be confidential and deal with sensitive information in a professional manner;
• Bilingual (French) is a strong asset but is not required.
