The Role

You’ll be joining our Marketing, Growth and Sales Team, reporting to and working closely with our Head of Sales and Growth. This is a mission critical role for us - the messaging, content, and campaigns you deliver will help us grow our client base and establish SHIFT’s brand. 

We’re looking for a highly motivated, energetic self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, a scrappy startup mentality and a desire to make an immediate impact on a rapidly growing business. You should thrive in fast-paced and cross-functional environments, be comfortable with change, and be excited by B2B marketing. 

In your first month, you will get an in-depth understanding of our product and clients by shadowing interactions with our buyers and end-users. This will allow you to understand the problems our clients look to us to solve. 

Specifically, you will contribute to SHIFT’s growth by:

  • Anchoring our GTM activities with a clear consistent story. Craft strategic communications and consistent messaging that resonates with our target audience, builds their understanding of the SHIFT platform, and answers why our tools are the right solution.

  • Increasing qualified leads. Contribute to monthly MQL and SQL targets through rigorous optimization of our outbound content and experimentation with inbound techniques. 

  • Establishing SHIFT as a credible expert. Own the content production funnel, from ideation to publication, for a mix of rich content, social media marketing, case studies, sales materials, conference collateral, etc.  

  • Informing continuous improvements to our marketing and sales strategies. Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, social listening, client feedback, and marketing performance to inform iterations and refinement of our marketing and sales approaches.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A scrappy, entrepreneurial approach. You want to uncover new and better ways of doing things, and if that means a pivot or another iteration, you’re game.

  • Skilled storytelling and writing capabilities. You will be the one to translate SHIFT’s voice, promise and value into compelling communications, be it sales emails, our website, or client decks. 

  • A knack for visual communications. You don’t need to be a designer, but you think about how to communicate not just in words, but also through visual experiences.

  • An appreciation for good enough and rapid testing. You aren’t held back trying to get to perfect, but instead willing to test collateral and content that is ‘good enough’, learn from it, and iterate again. 

  • The desire to nerd out on data. You’ll create robust testing plans, apply insights to future marketing campaigns, and always be looking for ways to optimize.

  • A collaborative approach. We are a tight team who ask for help when we need it, pitch in where we can, and celebrate our joint successes. 

  • A growth mindset. We don’t expect you to have all the answers, but instead, want to work with people who are excited to learn, tap into networks for ideas and expertise, and ask for feedback to keep getting better. 

  • 4-5 years marketing experience. Ideally you’ve worked in a startup or similarly fast paced environment, and have B2B experience.

This role will be based in our Toronto office, working remotely during the immediate term due to COVID-19.
