The incumbent has professional writing experience, ideally in the area of finance, across a range of mediums: press releases, direct mail, shareholder letters, presentations, Q&As, thought leadership pieces, and digital content. Skilled in taking complex subjects and distilling them into easily understood communications, the candidate also brings a strategic lens when providing recommendations about optimal distribution channels for communication and marketing material (whether traditional media outlets, online distribution, etc.). The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about public relations from an investor relations and capital markets perspective, and should welcome the opportunity to lead marketing initiatives including event planning, advertising, and promotional sponsorships. Familiarity with desktop publishing and directing graphic design talent is an asset.
To be successful in the role, the Director for Communications, Marketing, and Digital Strategy will bring to the environment a balanced disposition—a disposition that’s fiercely ambitious yet collegial, goals-focused yet patient, and eternally optimistic yet grounded in pragmatism. The incumbent has a degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related area, and has the poise, finesse, and character-based leadership required to represent the organization while interfacing with media, the firm’s clients, or community stakeholders at large. As chief proof-reader and editor for the organization, strong written and verbal presentation skills is a must as is delivering under tight timelines.
