About Prostate Cancer Canada:

Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) is one of the leading funders of prostate cancer research in Canada. Its research programs are critical to continue to build and support the prostate cancer research community in Canada to allow the generation of new knowledge of how to prevent, diagnose and treat prostate cancer.

OBJECTIVE

The role of the Manager, Marketing is to manage traditional, digital and creative functions of the marketing team to provide multi-media, multi-channel support for PCC’s philanthropic, advocacy, health promotion and awareness campaigns and events.  With one direct report in Digital, the Manager, Marketing is a “hands-on” supervisor providing both direction but also delivering graphic design and services to internal stakeholders.  As a member of the larger Marketing and Communications team, the Manager, Marketing reports to the Senior Director providing accurate and current reporting as well as ensuring collaboration with peers in regular meetings.

This position will appeal to an experienced, creative and digitally literate marketer currently working at the coordinator, specialist or senior technical level. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Integrated Marketing:

  • Execute marketing strategies to drive awareness and revenue, aligned with overall PCC priorities, through print media, out-of-home, web, search and social media
  • Plan and execute paid digital marketing campaigns (search, social, display, re-targeting, etc.) to support our programs, and focusing on conversion
  • Contribute to development of, and implement, marketing plans to drive growth and engagement in our social media communities and build the email database
  • Develop content strategy to support communications, including for email, websites, and social media
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal teams (Philanthropy  and Mission) to integrate marketing strategies and best practices into existing promotional programs
  • Deliver strong analytics and reporting on marketing performance across all channels and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • Manage external agency partners
  • Manage, maintain and report on marketing budget

Website / Creative design:

  • Deliver design options, including latest modern web design trends and best practices to execute compelling visual user experiences
  • Provide expertise on website user experience including information architecture, functionality, experimentation, conversion optimization, and technical site performance
  • Ensure brand, image standards, and content are consistent with overall marketing strategies
  • Design and produce online marketing creative including banner ads, buttons, email campaigns, and landing pages that are consistent with PCC brand standards and guidelines

Team Management:

  • Prioritize and manage the deadlines and deliverables of marketing team
  • Provide performance management through regular feedback to staff and annual performance review
  • Approve and/or schedule time off for staff via attendance management system
  • Manage Marketing Team monthly deliverables and progress and introduce company culture initiatives for improving teamwork
  • Train internal teams to integrate and maintain a cohesive marketing strategy

DECISION MAKING

  • Budgets related to vendors (e.g., agencies, paid media, translation)
  • Web development and micro-site development
  • Staff performance appraisals

Contributes to:

  • Marketing and Communications team RFPs
  • Communications plans and messages
  • Philanthropy events/campaigns
  • Brand management

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Philanthropy, Marketing and Communications Team
    • Supervises  Digital Coordinator Communications Director and Communications Manager
    • Direct Marketing Director and Direct Marketing Coordinator
    • With Executive Directors in Halifax and Vancouver regarding local marketing requirements for key initiatives
    • Reports to Senior Director
  • Mission  Team
    • With Managers of Research and Health Promotion to identify mission-related material for engagement, education or other stewardship information
    • With VP for campaigns or events

External

  • Key executional liaison with creative vendors: advertising agencies, web developers, photographers, and media partners
  • French translation services

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Post-secondary Education:    

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (Marketing, Communications)
  • Graphic design or digital marketing  training

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience, preferably in a health care, scientific or fund-raising environment
  • Progressive marketing experience, with strong digital & social marketing background
  • Website management and content development
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects

Technology:

  • Advanced MS Office suite and integrating various technologies to support marketing efforts
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite and Professional
  • Website content management systems
  • Databases, HTML, CSS, FTP
  • Email distribution systems (MailChimp)
  • Social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram)
  • Google Analytics and Adwords, Facebook Power Editor
  • Working understanding of the Kentico CMS system would be an asset

Other:

  • Ability to read and write in French is an asset
  • Experience in a charity or not-for-profit environment an asset

Competencies:

  • Experience operating in cross-functional work environments
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding and ambiguous environment
