This is an opportunity to lead the development, execution and evaluation of marketing programs, campaigns and initiatives targeted at deepening relationships and retaining the business of existing clients. This well-rounded and practiced leader is responsible for annual and real-time marketing activities that enable relationship managers within CWB, CWB Equipment Financing and CWB Franchise Finance to achieve business results.

Key Focuses:

  • Provide strategic marketing direction for Canadian Western Bank and relevant partner company brands to drive client and portfolio growth.
  • Lead the development and execution of external and internal marketing initiatives that deliver measured results, and help build brand awareness, increase brand equity and value, and achieve business growth targets. Tactics may include the use of purchased and owned media, direct mail and in-branch materials.
  • Ensure insight-driven marketing initiatives align with brand and consider the client experience across all client-facing touchpoints and channels.
  • Responsible for oversight and/or execution of client communications.
  • Manage project workflows, sign-offs, production requirements, media and channel planning.
  • Develop and implement annual marketing plans for CWB, CWB Equipment Financing, and CWB Franchise Finance collaborating with Marketing leadership, branch and regional leadership, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Execute on strategies to help increase sales and facilitate cross-sell opportunities, from external marketing campaigns to internal campaigns expanding wallet share with current clients, to banking packages and prospecting lists and programs. This includes market segmentation, developing strategies to address targeted segments and facilitate initiatives and activities to capture market share in the targeted segments.
  • Work with external agency, as applicable, to manage relevant website content and apply best practices to ongoing content development, search engine optimization and search engine marketing to drive organic and paid conversions, generating new leads.
  • Develop recommendations for new products or enhancements based on branch input and market research and in line with the banking strategy.
  • Lead the development and production of sales tools, collateral and other support materials in collaboration with the Graphic Designer and external agency partners.
  • Manage, coach, provide career planning, and evaluate performance of direct reports.

Essential Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications or digital media.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in marketing, communications or related discipline in an agency environment or client-side marketing department, preferably in the financial services industry or a mid-market commercial business.
  • Experience leading a team of diverse marketing professionals.

Essential Personal Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading and managing integrated marketing campaigns and projects.
  • Self-directed, motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Collaborative and humble leader who is interested in and energized by the development and progress of team members.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to develop and execute complex, integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Solid understanding of traditional and digital media.
  • In-depth knowledge of design and brand principles, production planning and executions including media trafficking and scheduling.
  • Sound written and verbal communications skills to clearly communicate the complexities and components of any project to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with and providing direction to creative agencies and other third-party suppliers.
  • Outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (including presentation, written and verbal).
  • A good balance of analytical and problem solving skills combined with creative thinking.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential along with a high level of attention to accuracy and details.
  • Familiarity with banking products, industry, and regulatory requirements impacting advertising and promotions is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
