Your role

Radio-Canada is looking for a dynamic Senior Communications-Marketing Officer to join the Alberta French Services Communications, Brand and Marketing team, in Edmonton. The successful candidate will execute a variety of marketing/communications strategies, projects and initiatives to support Radio-Canada’s digital, radio and television programming and will report to the Regional Communications Manager. This position requires someone with a passion for Radio-Canada and a flair for connecting with audiences. You bring an innovative spirit to your work, and thrive in fast paced environments.

 

You will play an integral role in the local Services strategy with a focus on three priorities:

  • Content: In this role, you will market Radio-Canada’s content in a way that resonates with the communities we serve. You will have a keen eye to highlight our original, enterprise and investigative storytelling. You will find innovative ways to connect Radio-Canada content to what matters most to people throughout the province. You’re innovative and will try new things. You inspire others to do the same.
  • Community: As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You will understand the diverse and changing population in Alberta and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content. 
  • Culture: You live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful workplace.

 

Some of the duties for this position may include:

  • Develop, write and implement strategic, integrated communications and marketing plans to promote programming and the brand.
  • Plan and implement marketing strategies including:
  • Managing and executing paid media buys.
  • Developing and implementing targeted social influencer mapping strategies to identify new audiences, create tailored online experiences, foster brand engagement and enable ambassadors.
  • Exploring, experimenting and recommending social media strategies for new and emerging social platforms.
  • Facilitate community engagement for Radio-Canada in Alberta. Work closely with community partners to develop community engagement strategies and plans through sponsorship, partnership, and Radio-Canada-owned events or outreach.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships internally and with partners.
  • Creating and executing media relations and public relations strategies to align with strategic objectives.
  • Community content creation for Radio-Canada platforms - including some production as necessary.
  • Marketing data collection and analysis.
  • Develop and produce promos for regional programs on Radio, TV, Web and social produced by regional stations, in accordance with network guidelines.

 

We are looking for a candidate with the following: 

  • Experience in communications, promotions or marketing, five or more years.
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma of university degree or an acceptable combination of experience, education and training.
  • Superior writing and editing skills. Demonstrated traditional and social media marketing experience (including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit.).
  • Experience with social analytics and reporting.
  • Success in crafting dynamic and persuasive content marketing materials.
  • Experience in community relations and event management.
  • Creative and strategic thinking.
  • Leadership skills (excellent planning and organizational ability).
  • Superior negotiation skills and the ability to navigate complex issues to bring about an agreement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to provide support in a variety of roles in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-changing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with design and video production and photo editing software and programs, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere and After Effects.
  • A strong grasp of marketing principles, brand-building and copywriting.
  • Experience with creating, sourcing and developing strong, engaging visuals for social media (images, graphics, video).
  • Plan and execute photo assignments through hands-on production, from shooting to editing.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Flexibility in work hours as operations demand, including the ability to work shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays, is required.
