MANAGER, MARKETING
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

BCIT’s Marketing and Communications is seeking a regular, full-time Manager, Marketing. The Manager, Marketing will manage the crucial relationships between Marketing and Communications and the BCIT community.  

This position is responsible for developing marketing programs to drive student enrolment and increase brand affinity amongst key stakeholder groups, such as prospective and current students, alumni, donors and industry partners. This will be facilitated through the exceptional management of the Marketing and Communication Strategists and Creative Services team, who will be the direct link between the central Marketing and Communications Department and BCIT customers and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the position also works closely with the rest of the MarComm management team, which includes the Manager of Communications and the Manager of Events and Experiential. This position will cover for the other management roles in the department, as appointed by the Director, Marketing and Communications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that Institute vision and department direction is understood and implemented by the team. 
  • Leads the planning, execution, measurement and optimization of all Institute advertising campaigns and oversees the budget of approximately $1.2-million.    
  • Ensures the cohesive development and implementation of an Institute-wide brand marketing plan as well as overseeing School and/or sector-based marketing plans across the Institute.
  • Responsible for the Institute’s digital marketing and communications strategy and tactical implementation of digital marketing and website content optimization.
  • Works closely with the Manager, Communications and the Manager, Events and Experiential to ensure a strong environment of collaboration and shared services is developed between the divisions.
  • Directly manages four team members and is indirectly responsible for a total of 10 full-time employees, including a team of Marketing and Communication Strategists, Graphic Designers, a Digital Strategist, a Social Media Strategist and the Institute Photographer.
  • Establishes solid communication channels with business development managers and embedded marketing representatives in Schools and service departments.
  • Represents the Institute in external activities that support widespread partnerships.
  • Supports Marketing and Communications initiatives and events, such as Convocation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline, with documented ongoing education in related areas.
  • Five years’ direct and current experience in marketing.
  • Experience in, and a detailed understanding of, the graphic and print industry is essential.
  • Experience in digital and online marketing and web analytics.
  • Exceptional people leadership, professional standards, energy, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing a cross-functional team is strongly desired.
  • Proven understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM) and customer relationship management (CRM) is desired. 
  • Additional marketing experience including branding, market research and advertising is preferred.
