The opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced, bilingual marketing and communications professional to lead the implementation of marketing and communications strategies and plans for Magnet, including promoting the development and adoption of Magnet’s social innovation platform.  As the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, you will lead activities related to brand, content development, promotions, social media, web design, tool development and stakeholder relations to elevate Magnet’s brand and profile as a not-for-profit, digital social innovation platform capable of connecting people, businesses and organizations to opportunities for economic growth through the use of their talent matching technology. You will also oversee the development all communications materials and products and their translation in both the English and French languages.

Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g. Journalism, Marketing, Communications, English, Creative Writing, Public Relations and/or Advertising) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressive marketing and communication experience working in a dynamic work environment, developing, executing and evaluating high-calibre marketing and communication initiatives and strategies involving a variety of online and offline channels

  • Experience in a managerial setting and in supervising staff unionized staff

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French

  • Demonstrated experience in new program development, promotion, and market growth

  • Experience in social media marketing, grassroots marketing and network initiatives

  • Superior written and oral English and French communication skills

  • Knowledge of creative design and a vision for creating compelling, visually appealing, concise and impactful marketing materials across multiple marketing channels (e.g. print, web, mobile, exhibit, events)

  • Excellent command of contemporary technologies such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator is preferred, as well as the ability to streamline design variables in order to maximize output

  • Knowledge of a broad range of marketing and promotion techniques

  • Knowledge of Internet capabilities and design

  • Stakeholder relationship and management skills

  • Excellent public speaking skills

  • Demonstrated production quotation (costing) and budgeting skills

  • Negotiating skills (e.g. with clients, suppliers, internal work teams)

  • Strong project, organizational time management skills

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Google applications (e.g. Google Docs, Sheets)
