Food Banks Canada is a national charitable organization dedicated to helping Canadians living with food insecurity. It supports a network of 10 Provincial Associations, 550 food banks and more than 3000 food programs across Canada, sharing food and funds and delivering programs and services. Together, this network assists over 860,000 Canadians who turn to food banks each month.

Embarking on the implementation of its new Strategic Framework, Food Banks Canada wishes to recruit an accomplished senior marketing and communications leader to take the organization to its next level of achievement in providing national network leadership to relieve hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow. In this newly created role, the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer will be responsible for leading Food Banks Canada’s marketing and communications portfolio and a dynamic team of dedicated professionals. Together, you will increase Food Banks Canada’s brand awareness through innovative and leading-edge brand marketing and communications that differentiate Food Banks Canada as a charity of choice and mobilize public engagement, awareness and financial support for its mission. Further, through consultation and integration, you will lead organization-wide strategic communications efforts that build a common voice for food banking across Canada and position Food Banks Canada and the food banking network as a thought leader on issues that affect people living in poverty and food insecurity across the nation. 

With substantive marketing and communications expertise, integrity and teamwork skills, the new Chief Marketing & Communications Officer will be an agile, innovate and authentic leader who works well under pressure and has a bias for action. Being both tactical and strategic, the ideal candidate brings a dossier of demonstrated achievements in creating and implementing bold marketing and branding initiatives, along with a strong background in corporate communications and issues management. The individual sought shares a passion for Food Banks Canada’s mission and, as a leader, is motivated to create and sustain a transparent, collaborative and partnership-focused organizational culture. This individual will ideally have experience operating within a complex federated environment and/or building cohesion among diverse stakeholder groups. Relevant post-secondary education and credentials in the areas of marketing and communications are required.
