We are seeking a permanent full-time communications and marketing innovator to lead and redefine how we engage with our diverse community. As Senior Associate Vice-President (Strategic Communications and Marketing), you will hold the most senior Executive communications and marketing role on campus. You will work closely with the VP, Advancement and other members of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to lead the transformation of the strategic communications and marketing platform to advance UCalgary’s brand, identity and reputation.

 

You are a trailblazer in the world of communication and marketing strategies, including digital and social media, and public relations. An experienced, dynamic, and charismatic leader with a minimum of 10 years experience in a large, complex organization with a multifaceted stakeholder environment, you will engage your comprehensive team with your creativity, drive and responsiveness as you redefine strategic communications in ways that are authentic, future-oriented and inspirational. 

 

The successful candidate will have a university degree in Marketing, Business Communications or a relevant discipline and a Master’s degree.  You have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in strategic communications, public relations and/or marketing in large organizations with global reach; demonstrated expertise in strategic and innovative communications and marketing approaches; and experience developing and leveraging research and data analytics to inform and evaluate programs, campaigns and resource deployment. You have a track record of leading innovation in digital communications and marketing technologies, and can demonstrate the ways in which they can be leveraged strategically. You have deep expertise in directing measurable and impactful media strategy across local, regional, national, and international media.

The University of Calgary’s comprehensive benefits and pension program is designed to promote a productive level of health and well-being to staff members through coverage for health, dental, life insurance, income protection for disability, and retirement income planning. The salary range for this position is $167,000 to $284,000 per annum and will be negotiated based on the candidate’s skills and experience.
