The Digital Marketing Specialist will lead SEO and pay-per-click (PPC) efforts and bring with them a broad understanding of Digital Marketing principals. This role is that of a hands-on digital marketing professional who sets and executes channel strategies within a multi-functional team, driving growth and delivering the best possible results 

What you will do in this role:

Digital Marketing Channel Strategy (30%)

  • Develop and lead channel strategies and plans for SEO, Paid Search, and Email Marketing to evolve our inbound/outbound customer-focused digital marketing approaches to attract and retain customers.
  • Develop, execute and project manage digital marketing plans for focus areas.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications team for the execution of marketing campaigns, leading the digital channel strategy.    
  • Serve as a key member on cross-functional teams to develop WSPS’s content strategy and integrated approach.
  • Focus on continuous improvements to digital user experience and drive forward innovation in our digital roadmap for growth. Improve user experience by innovating within your channels, and monitoring and analyzing user behaviour and testing for improvements/optimizations.
  • Report on digital marketing success against channel KPI’s and act as our resident Google Analytics expert – building out reports and dashboards for internal insights and campaign measurement.

SEO/PPC – Website Optimization (35%)

  • Partner with e-Commerce Specialist to build strategies to increase online sales, traffic and conversions and further enhance the website search experience.
  • Execute SEO strategies with the goal of improving performance against KPIs: search visibility, visits, page views, and conversions.
  • Lead PPC campaigns and analyze the effectiveness of past paid search campaigns with the goal of optimizing our online presence with Google and other search engines.
  • Perform keyword research to identify high-value search phrases/intent to drive traffic that will convert into leads.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to build and integrate SEO processes into digital content development work.
  • Develop and execute effective link-building strategies and optimize on-page elements such as title tag, meta description, URL, headings, images, internal link and more.
  • Ensure alignment between paid search and organic search strategies.
  • Advise on content types, topics, and keywords to explore to maximize search rankings.
  • Capture and communicate insights by using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEM Rush, Google Trends, and more.
  • Provide training to others in the organization on issues important to SEO and Paid Search.  
  • Keep pace with search engine and PPC/SEO industry trends and developments.  

Email Marketing Coordination and Execution (35%)

  • Oversee the email marketing lifecycle, from strategy, development, and execution of all email campaigns.
  • Manage WSPS’s email marketing calendar, ensuring it is consistent with overall brand and corporate objectives, and that KPIs are being met.
  • Support Digital Marketing Lead to introduce new triggered/automated email programs.
  • Oversee day-to-day email campaign execution including set-up, segmentation, scheduling, testing, tagging, and deployment
  • Oversee all email and campaign landing page design that will drive efficiencies while allowing flexibility in communication of content/offers.
  • Assist with personalization efforts to generate higher engagement from our email communications
  • Grow our email database, while monitoring and reporting on growth.
  • Monitor email inbox performance and maintain CASL compliance.
  • Proactively monitor overall email metrics and provide analysis of results, success metrics and recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct ongoing A/B testing to improve email performance related to subject lines, email copy, and call-to-actions.
  • Identify new opportunities and create efficiencies in current workflows.

CONTRIBUTES TO A HEALTHY AND SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT (at all times)

  • Adheres to WSPS policies, procedures, process fact sheets, guidelines and business rules established in the WSPS quality Management system which ensures the achievement of our quality goals.
  • Contributes to promoting a healthy and safe culture, and links efforts to the WSPS Managed system approach (Plan, Do, Act, Check, Continuous Improvement Cycle).
  • Accountable for ensuring staff adheres to WSPS Quality Management system (policies, processes, and procedures) and WSPS health, safety, and wellness practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant digital marketing experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Keyword Planner, Google Search Console, Google Page Speed Insights, Google Data Studio, and other third-party SEO reporting tools (SEMrush as an example).
  • PPC/Google AdWords and Google Analytics certifications.
  • Experience with marketing automation - programing marketing automation campaigns and managing workflows. Preferred – HubSpot Certified.
  • Ability to build reporting based off web behaviour and key SEO metrics.
  • Experience building and managing lead generation programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, including the capability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great writing skills including best practice for PPC copy, emails marketing, and SEO.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, with outstanding collaboration and interpersonal relationship skills.

  • WSPS offers flexible work arrangements. Head Office roles can be performed from home or our well-appointed Mississauga office. Candidates are required to reside in the province of Ontario, maintain a private and safe workspace and have a high-quality internet connection.
