Director of Marketing and Communication - Burlington, Ontario

PURPOSE:

Responsible for providing leadership to the team that is responsible for resources for the CORE and other World Renew teams to help ensure constituents are knowledgeable about World Renew’s activities. As well, the team creates and distributes campaigns and resources to acquire new donors (individual and corporate), collaborates with CORE Canada to understand and respond to individual, corporate and ecclesiastical donors to encourage greater financial and spiritual engagement, and develops and distributes resources for a mass market; develop and distribute resources for (all) existing donors, enabling CORE Canada to implement its strategies.


 

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.  Provide leadership and supervision of the Marketing and Communications team in Canada:
    • lead the annual marketing and general donor communication and fundraising planning process and establish performance objectives for audience and lead acquisition and general donor fundraising in Canada in alignment with World Renew’s priorities 
    • ensure the annual general donor fundraising, marketing, content and communication strategies for Canada are effectively implemented, evaluated and revised as required
    • manage the Marketing and Communications budget in Canada 
    • provide necessary knowledge, tools, skill training, and feedback to lead team and individual member growth
  2.  Lead the planning and implementation of  Canadian mass and general donor communication and fundraising strategy; all external communication including marketing, advertising, media, strategic messaging, social media and worldrenew.ca
  3.  Lead the process of resource planning and gathering, producing and distributing them to and through appropriate channels and teams
  4.  Lead the creation, supply and organization of marketing and communications projects and programs (eg: Joseph Stewards, Designated Sundays)
  5.  Lead target market development, acquisition and general donor strategies with marketing and communications staff:
    • Manage data analysis for brand persona development
    • Lead market research to identify target market within broader Christian audience in Canada 
    • Collaborate with CORE Canada in developing donor journey mapping to identify and maximize strategic pathways into World Renew
    • Plan and implement donor acquisition strategy, utilizing cross functional strategy to upsell and cross sell non-managed donors, maximizing revenue and retention rates for faithful, recurring, and new donors
  6.  Represent concerns in the CORE team nationally (and bi-nationally as warranted), contribute to full team efforts to secure funds and increase engagement, and provide leadership in producing the resources needed for the successful implementation of their tasks
  7.  Partner with leadership in bequests, major gifts, churches/schools, volunteer recruitment, ministry teams, disaster response and executive team to ensure coordinated marketing strategy across the organization. Introduce and persuade partner teams to utilize new campaigns and strategies that are in alignment with organizational priorities
  8.  Direct the use of World Renew’s brand, ensuring presentation of the organization is consistent across all channels including marketing and communication assets used by all staff and volunteers of World Renew; manage crisis communications as needed
  9.  Work with DGP to ensure MarComm Canada’s plans align well with Salesforce CRM capabilities.
  10.  Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications US to ensure complementarity of operations.
  11.  Ensure full internal communications, enabling all staff to be able to readily access and retrieve resources.
  12.  Partner with CRCNA Communications staff for coordinated church and member communications strategies
  13.  Perform other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position will supervise all Canadian MarComm team members, and contractors as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  5.  Thorough understanding of digital and traditional marketing and general donor fundraising, digital advertising, donor journeys and personas, mass donor retention and development strategies and how best to integrate these into donor engagement and support for World Renew
  6.  Ability to plan, manage and monitor a marketing and fundraising budget and demonstrate return on investment of marketing and fundraising activities 
  7.  Experience building consensus and long-term relationships
  8.  Flexible and adaptable team player; proven advanced skills in collaborating with others; demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to express ideas clearly, listen with sensitivity
  9.  Ability to maintain the confidentiality of donor information; self-directed, ability to work with limited direction and to set priorities in a multi-task context to ensure projects are completed and targets achieved
  10.  Well-developed writing skills, including prior experience writing marketing and fundraising copy; demonstrated competency in various computer applications, especially Office 365, Adobe Suite,l, Salesforce databases, and Google Suite
  11.  Ability to direct the activities of self and others to ensure projects are completed and targets achieved

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  1.  A bachelor’s degree is required, in a related field such as business, marketing, or nonprofit management is preferred; a master’s degree in marketing, business or nonprofit management is a definite asset
  2.  At least six years of work experience in marketing or mass fundraising is required, with demonstrated ability in the area of mass communication engagement and fundraising including at least three years of experience in team management/leadership is preferred
  3.  Digital Marketing certification is a definite asset
  4.  Experience or exposure to international community development is a definite asset
