ABOUT THE ROLE

As a full-time permanent position, the Marketing and Communications Specialist assists in creating marketing materials and content that promote the organization's activities. This position will help drive community members to Agency websites and increase the use and awareness of Agency programs, partnerships, and services through social media channels and print materials.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Create content for the organization’s social media platforms by developing digital content that engages and informs viewers of the organization’s programs, partnerships, events and services to drive traffic to the respective websites. 
  • Assist in developing written materials, source photography and video content for various marketing materials. 
  • Collaborate with internal clients to understand the community/prospective clients they serve to develop appropriate materials based on the need(s) identified. 
  • Ensure all content meets Agency brand and communications standards
  • Develop monthly analytics reports for social media and website utilization.
  • Meet with community members or partners to better understand the target demographic to inform content development. (e.g., language/translation services)
  • Act as the primary source for internal organization communications to ensure consistency in the format and content and ensure that everything meets the organization’s communication standard.

 

THE “MUST HAVES”

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, digital marketing, public relations or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience 
  • Digital and social media expertise developed through past work experiences.  
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong Google Analytics, SEO and Google AdWords skills.
  • Advanced skills in and working experience using: WordPress, MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Mailchimp.
  • Knowledge of organization communication/brand standards
  • Understanding the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and the communities served by the position.

 

THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following: 

  • Experience in a mental health services environment
  • Knowledge of the cultural diversity of communities served by the agency.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.

 

BEFORE STARTING WITH US

As our work puts us in direct contact with youth and vulnerable persons in our community, with health and safety as a priority, the successful candidate must complete or obtain the following before commencement of their employment:

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 or have received an exemption from the organization’s policy.
  • A Vulnerable Sector police check.
