Social Media Specialist

SUMMARY

Responsible for the day-to-day management of IBAO’s social media channels. Delivers creative and strategic elements including visual design, caption copy, content calendars and best practice guidelines. Spearheads IBAO and Ontario Broker brands.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

SOCIAL MEDIA (60%)

  • Developing a multi-platform social media strategy to grow audiences, build brand awareness and boost engagement of IBAO Members, industry partners and Ontario consumers
  • Introducing new and innovative programs and best practice to current and future channels
  • Creating a unique, ownable voice as end-to-end content creator with a solid understanding of what’s trending and how/when to leverage trends
  • Pitching, developing and publishing daily content in collaboration with IBAO Marketing Team
  • Managing community engagement, answering and redirecting queries, acting as online brand ambassador for IBAO and Ontario Broker brands
  • Sharing content ideas on how to engage communities, grow followers and attract next gen brokers/industry professionals/ students/consumers
  • Staying on top of cultural moments, trends and industry developments to create reactive opportunities
  • Increasing internal understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms, acting as a champion for social innovation
  • Analyzing and reporting performance and engagement metrics on a consistent and proactive basis

DESIGN (10%)

  • Collaborating with Marketing Manager on social media design aesthetic and templates, carrying out social tile, animation and video design
  • Supporting IBAO Marketing Team with design needs, contributing to design strategy and leveraging specific skillset to create supporting assets

WRITING (10%)

  • Pitching and developing editorial content for the Ontario Broker magazine including regular columns, interviews, thought leadership, lifestyle and community content
  • Contributing written content to other IBAO platforms including website copy, blogs, press releases, email communications, presentations and event scripting

ADVERTISING SALES (10%)

  • Acting as key liaison with current and future advertisers 
  • Coordinating print and digital ad sales for the Ontario Broker magazine including pitching, coordinating assets, communicating timelines and invoicing to hit annual revenue targets

EVENTS (10%)

  • Supporting IBAO Marketing Team on scheduled events including Virtual Spring Summit, Young Brokers Conference, Convention, Awards of Excellence and Education Gala

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Creative thinker and innovator
  • Experienced storyteller and social media champion
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with confidence
  • Well organized, able to work under pressure 
  • Excellent social copywriting and design skillset with the ability to cater to multiple platforms
  • Experience building and nurturing online communities with an understanding of what it takes to be always on in digital spaces
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Design or related discipline
  • Technical skills include social media marketing (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Vimeo, other), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Mailchimp, WordPress, Microsoft Office
  • 5+ years of progressive, demonstrated experience in social media and digital marketing or a comparable context
