Manager, Employee Communications (24 Month Contract)

Reporting to the Head of Employee Communications & Engagement, this role will be responsible for developing and executing communication plans across the company to drive TMX's business priorities and enhance employee engagement in a hybrid environment. The role has one direct report (employee communications specialist).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop content strategy for employee communication forums supporting internal strategies/plans based on business objectives and driving employee engagement. This includes intranet, email, all employee meetings, surveys, posters, videos, community spaces, presentations, contests, lunch and learns, executive organizational announcements, digital screens, etc.

  • Understand the needs and wants of the employee audience, and source, develop, draft, edit and disseminate content.

  • Form relationships with key business partners in promoting their news, special events, programs, campaigns or initiatives to employees through effective and engaging written and visual communications. Counsel them on key messaging, tone, and approach for which communication channels to use.

  • Manage content strategy, new items, pages, redesigns, and oversight for the employee intranet which is our one-stop source for employee information. Create and manage editorial calendars for this.

  • Work closely with the translation team to ensure items are delivered in both languages. Also work closely with production team to develop effective visual digital and print communications

  • Fully develop and execute internal communication strategies/plans that promote the TMX brand and drive employee engagement, ensuring alignment to the business’ priorities and establishing TMX as an Employer of Choice.

  • Write scripts for executive team members for various needs including new employee onboarding sessions with the president, coffee chats, town halls, etc.

  • Come up with video concepts, draft scripts for them and work with AV to make the concept come to life for company videos. Editing, revisions, and delivery.

  • Manage the business continuity tool (employee hotline) for communication in a crisis situation.

  • Oversee all presentation content and manage all logistics from planning to execution around employee communication forums such as all-employee meetings, TMX 101 sessions, and company-wide employee events.


Skills & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Communications, PR, or Journalism

  • 7+ years of post-university work experience in communications, with experience in employee communications and events

  • Strong and effective written (including script writing) and verbal communication skills

  • Strategic, analytical and creative thinker

  • Proven experience as a people leader

  • Proactive team player with the ability to get things done

  • Ability to build relationships across the business and is adaptable and comfortable with change

  • Highly service-oriented with exceptional organizational and follow-up skills

  • Able to manage conflicting prioritize with a strong sense of judgement

  • Digitally savvy professional with a creative eye for design and an excellent attention to detail

  • Bilingual (English and French) a plus
