VON is Canada’s longest-serving not-for-profit home and community health care charity delivering a wide range of vital health, wellness and end-of-life support services to more than 10,000 people in Ontario and Nova Scotia every day.  Together with its 6,400 employees and 6,200 volunteers, VON helps Canadians stay healthy, live well and remain active. VON supports those in frail and failing health and with clients and their families, contributes to the health and improved quality of life of Canadians in their homes and communities, where they want to be.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President Marketing, Communications, and Philanthropy develops, directs, and manages the implementation and evaluation of multi-year strategic marketing, communication and philanthropy plans and initiatives to align and advance the mission and goals of VON Canada.

Your scope is broad and varied and covers media relations, marketing, market research, internal and external communications, stakeholder and donor engagement, and brand management. As a member of the senior team, you work closely with your colleagues as well as the Board to drive strategy, enhance donor and stakeholder engagement and support key interactions with government, VON Community Corporations and partners to help raise awareness of VON Canada’s very important role in advancing home and community care in Canada.

As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced, insightful, creative and bold marketing and communications leader with a record of success in complex, fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.  Colleagues respect and value your political acuity, adroit communications skills, sound and analytical counsel and evidence informed decision-making. Technologically savvy and current on best practices, you have had great success developing and delivering innovative digital and social media strategies, leading issues management and crisis communications, and overseeing media relations and public outreach. Your experience in a comparable health sector not-for-profit organization or association would be an asset, as would your ability to communicate in both official languages.
