Digital & Social Media Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Manager, Digital and Social Media is responsible for leading the digital media, social media, content and online community engagement strategy for Humber College.  This includes developing strategy, implementing plans, enforcing standards, and using trends and technology to strengthen Humber’s digital and online presence. The Manager, Digital and Social Media monitors, tracks, collates, develops, contributes to, shares and curates digital and social content across Humber’s social media properties while working to connect and build relationships between Humber’s social communities. The Manager, Digital and Social Media manages a team of content creators who are also responsible for responding to social media inquiries on a day-to-day basis. The Manager, Digital and Social Media is the primary responder and advisor for internal questions about social media strategy and platforms. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a Degree in communications, PR, journalism or another relevant discipline (a 3 year diploma/degree plus postgraduate credential in the above or related field is also acceptable). The incumbent will possess a minimum of 5 years’ related work experience and hold demonstrated experience in the following areas: developing digital content and social media strategy; overseeing online communities; proficiency as an administrator for major social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other software/services such as Hootsuite; and proficiency in Google Analytics and other analytics platforms. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective team and individual management experience and provide examples of project/program leadership. Management experience within a unionized environment is considered an asset.
