External Communications Manager

NOVA Chemicals is seeking a confident, dynamic communications professional to join our Corporate Communications team.

Reporting to the Director, Communications, the External Communications Manager is responsible for participating in strategy development and managing the execution of external communications priorities to increase the visibility of NOVA Chemicals with key stakeholders. This role has cross-functional, indirect leadership accountability and will be focused first on building critical tools and processes related to external communications, including media relations, social media, content creation for digital and other platforms, media training and crisis communications. The Manager will also work with and have accountability for agency partners that support the company on a wide range of initiatives and projects.

As the successful candidate you will preferably have a post-secondary degree in related discipline along with 10+ years of outstanding record of achievement in related roles and functions. It is also expected that you understand vision and strategy at the company and business level. As the ideal candidate, you are skilled at effectively responding to changing priorities and demands with superb writing and editing skills. You are capable of developing and implementing strategies. You have strong organizational skills with an attention to detail. You will recognize and break down barriers to collaboration and reach agreement or consensus on a course of action with others inside the organization. You have demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work well with others in cross-functional groups. You are skilled and comfortable communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization.  The successful candidate will lead through influence and is willing to travel.
