Marketing Manager

OPPORTUNITY:   We’re a fast-paced company, so we need versatile self-starters who are motivated by sport and excellence in delivery and who will jump right in. It's critical for you to be able to understand our sports offerings and place them in the marketplace. The Marketing Manager must have creative energy and initiative, success working within a team environment, proven experience in a leadership role and in delivering results.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Marketing Manager plays a leadership role in the development and execution of sales, marketing programs and initiatives.  The successful candidate will be strategic, creative and fun, with the ability to lead the company’s marketing vision to meet overall targets for retention, growth and profitability. This senior position is responsible for all marketing activities and the development and delivery of a fully integrated strategy for the business (which includes the 5 satellite cities under the corporate umbrella).  The Marketing Manager will work in the Ottawa office and report to the Executive Director.

 

  • Work with the Executive Director to strategically promote SSC and create marketing vision    
  • Responsible for aligning the marketing strategy with company objectives and seasonal launches
  • Works cross functionally with the Sports Hub and Customer Service Team to launch campaigns
  • Recognize and successfully manage revenue goals and budget expenditures
  • Analyze potential strategic partner relationships for company marketing
  • Act as the “Keeper of the Brand”, including standards and guidelines to ensure brand consistency across all channels 
  • Negotiate with vendors, manage relationships and order seasonal promotional items
  • Manage updates, ensure quality control of website, analyze and prepare website analytics, report on metrics and collaborate on search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Have clear understanding of website optimization strategies as well as Manage AdWords campaigns
  • Create content for email marketing, online advertising, newsletters and website
  • Lead and execute corporate advertising campaigns
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company divisions are kept informed of marketing objectives
  • Assess the effectiveness of the marketing programs and provide seasonal reporting senior team
  • Contribute to the on-going process improvements and the development of best practices 

 

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Overseeing the social media strategy for the company ensuring it aligns with the company’s brand
  • Create measurable and achievable social media outreach goals and strategies that correspond to the communications plans
  • Develop and produce online and print marketing campaigns including creative content
  • Create strategic and innovative ways to grow online and social media presence (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Present up-to-date on market trends, and provide regular strategic updates to the leadership team

 

EVENT MANAGEMENT

  • Develop new event opportunities to serve the organization’s growing membership
  • Coordinate all aspects of event preparation and logistics (i.e. staffing, budgets, game schedules, event wrap-up, etc.)
  • Manage event and tournament budgets ensuring profitability
  • Plan and execute yearly events calendar, in support of revenue generation
  • Select Tradeshows for participation and act as Ambassador at these events
  • Build the corporate team-building branch, inclusive of corporate team recruitment

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • A University Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7+ years experience years of relevant experience is preferred 
  • Proven track record of success in more senior marketing and sales roles
  • Strong understanding of consumer marketing principles in brand management and online channels
  • Ability to lead, give direction and motivate direct report
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot original branding opportunities
  • Experience in MS office and other current communications/marketing & graphics software
  • Result-oriented with a strong desire for action
  • Ability to manage critical business relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to initiate and follow through on assignments with attention to detail
  • Capacity to manage multiple simultaneous priorities and work at a fast pace
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain relationships with clients and members
  • Knowledge and passion for multiple sports
  • Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle
  • Bilingualism in English and French would be considered an asset

 

EXPECTED HOURS

  • Typical working hours are from 9:30pm-5:30pm

-         Available to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings, and weekends to meet the needs of the business)

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • Rate of Pay: $51,000 - $60,000 / expected annual salary in first year
