Director, Integrated & Internal Communications

Permanent, full-time position – Guelph, ON

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced integrated and strategic communications professional to join the Communications & Marketing team at the University of Guelph and lead the University-wide strategic internal communications that support the senior leadership team’s vision and institutional priorities, which are guided by the University’s Strategic Framework.

As such a leader, you will facilitate collaboration, alignment and integration across the decentralized communications and marketing landscape, including all seven colleges and key units, especially Student Affairs and student-led initiatives that affect, or could potentially affect, the University’s operations, services and reputation.

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (Communications and Marketing), you will be working closely with the Vice-President (External), the Senior Director of Media Relations and Stakeholder Communications, the Director of Marketing and Digital Engagement, and the Assistant Vice-President, Government Relations & Community Engagement. 

Critical to your success will be your ability to lead the planning and development of high-value institutional materials and the development and delivery of the University’s key messages – centrally and in support of priority institutional initiatives. As Director, Integrated and Internal Communications, you will work collaboratively with other directors in the Communications and Marketing Department, providing an internal and integrated lens to efforts across the department.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for the role of Director, Integrated and Internal Communications, you must have a profile that includes:

  • An undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related discipline combined with several years of related experience, a master’s degree is preferred; 
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills for key messaging, corporate and internal communications, internal campaigns to build culture, briefing documents, presentation decks, speeches, Q and As, and digital copy for web, social media, e-blasts, and e-newsletters.
  • Extensive experience in strategic development and the execution of integrated communications plans.
  • Extensive project management experience developing and leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience building relationships at all levels of an organization and fostering collaboration, and the ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and tight deadlines with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • Advanced proficiency using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

NOTE: The University has adopted a policy relative to flexible work arrangements. This appointment is regularly performed on campus but is eligible for a flexible work arrangement under the terms of this policy.
