Director, Product and Service Strategy with Technical Safety BC

The Director, Product and Service Strategy has a mandate to develop and implement a strategic approach to products and fees on behalf of Technical Safety BC. Within the context of this mandate, the Director is responsible for building capacity across Technical Safety BC to effectively and practically adopt product management tools and techniques to support the design, delivery and pricing of products delivered to promote safety. The Director supports the organization with reporting on value creation measures, to ensure Technical Safety BC’s collective efforts create technical safety value for public beneficiaries, duty holders, and the organization. The Director has regular, ongoing contact with diverse stakeholder and duty holder groups, works collaboratively across Technical Safety BC in strategy development, prioritization of corporate projects and business planning, and operational delivery. The Director regularly engages the Executive Team and Board of Directors around fees, product leadership strategy and interacts with key duty holder segments. The Director leads the Product Leadership Team, which drives how, at what fee level, Technical Safety BC promotes and measures public safety by working with, and through, duty holders.  The Director manages a Product Leadership Team of approximately 5 persons.

With at least 8 years relevant experience in product and service management, the candidate must be an integrative, systems thinker with superior business acumen, an entrepreneurial spirit, a desire for results, high integrity, positive energy and the diplomacy, gravitas and finesse to influence others. With a genuine interest in, and respect for, the vital role of regulatory organizations in society, the candidate must have substantive, proven expertise in service product development, pricing, evaluation and management. With excellent skills in conceptual and data analysis, the candidate must have empathy for customers and the ability to build and lead a team and to consult effectively within and outside the organization. The candidate must have a track record of success in progressively more senior roles, at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role and sound knowledge of marketing and product development. With a high tolerance for ambiguity and ability to effectively manage stress, the candidate must have sound judgment, effective boundaries as well as excellent analytical and implementation skills. A coach and mentor, the candidate must have the drive to lead change and to develop successors within the Product Leadership Team and across the organization. The ideal candidate has completed a degree in Commerce or Business Administration, preferably at the Master’s level. Courageous and calm, the candidate must have capacity to work with a Board of Directors and an Executive Team.
