Director, Marketing & Digital Engagement
An exciting opportunity for an experienced integrated marketing professional to join the University of Guelph’s Communications & Public Affairs team and advance the University’s national and international reputation through collaboration and innovation.
Responsible to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive marketing and digital engagement program guided by the University’s Strategic Framework and leveraging the recently refreshed ‘Improve Life’ brand, the ideal candidate brings a deep knowledge of all marketing media and depth of experience to mobilize a large, complex organization to effectively support student recruitment, alumni and donor communications, international rankings and government relations.
This is a new role, reporting to the Assistant Vice-President (Communications & Public Affairs) and working closely with the Director, Integrated Communications and the Vice-President (External). Critical to your success will be your ability to collaborate with, and provide mentorship to, communications colleagues across the University of Guelph’s seven colleges, the major directorates as well as our Ridgetown and Humber campuses, ultimately creating synergies and a shared and consistent vision across these units. As Director of Marketing and Digital Engagement, you will be the primary lead for all matters related to branding and marketing, and either lead or be a key representative on a variety of committees, steering groups and councils, both internally and externally.
To be considered for the role of Director, Marketing and Digital Engagement, you must have:
A graduate degree, preferably an MBA or Masters in Communications, combined with several years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Deep knowledge of, and expertise in, brand development across print, digital and social platforms;
Proven experience leading the development, implementation and evaluation of large-scale strategic marketing/digital engagement plans within a complex business environment;
Experience managing vendor relationships and accounts;
Experience leading and developing a team of marketing professionals as well as leading committees or steering groups;
A drive toward results with demonstrated outcomes in efficacy of marketing and digital engagement plans, and the use of data to inform decisions;
Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills and a track record of effectively sharing information, connecting and driving initiatives across a wide range of stakeholders, including executive leaders;
Creative and innovative thinking skills, with the ability to see opportunities and come up with creative solutions to problems; and
Advanced proficiency using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
