This new permanent, full-time position is an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Public Affairs team, where you will providing strategic leadership in the ongoing development and execution of communications and marketing activities in support of CMHC`s commercial businesses --  including mortgage loan insurance and securitization.
 
You will design and implement strategies to support CMHC’s commercial activities and advance CMHC's reputation as an industry leader, support the positioning of CMHC's mortgage loan insurance, including insurance direction, priorities, insurance management, human resources, and updates on important initiatives; and execute plans across all stakeholder groups. You will ensure that the products and services are promoted to the range of clients, policy makers, government officials, industry executives and consumers in such a way as to influence housing-related decisions. 
 
Additionally, you will provide strategic counsel and advice to the Senior Vice President of the business and their leadership team as well as be responsible for the management of reputational risks and opportunities. 
 
How You Will Be Contributing
  • Develops and executes communications and marketing plans specific to CMHC`s commercial businesses.
  • Ensures front-facing staff have the information and products they need to effectively serve and meet the needs of their clients and maintain or improve client satisfaction. 
  • Leads the creation and on-going adaption of value proposition, in consultation with business.   
  • Leads the identification and creation of a media and issues management strategy to mitigate reputational risk and enhance CMHC’s reputation related to the Insurance and Capital Markets businesses.
  • Leads the design and development of options to strategically plan and manage the function in order to respond to policy objectives, budget considerations and client and investor communities.           
  • Lead the coordination of Annual Public Meeting activities including working with Finance to develop the Annual Report themes, design and content and coordinate quarterly financial reporting. Similarly lead annual quarterly reporting.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with key government stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage a team of communications professionals, providing direction and clarity of vision and translating business objectives into group and individual objectives.                                      
  • Work with senior management and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
  • Sit on the senior leadership team of the Insurance business line, providing strategic counsel.     
  • Supports President, SVP(s) and VP interactions with clients through effective presentation and information materials. Coordinates reporting of lender satisfaction and other metrics, including market research projects.                
  • Lead the transition to a new website, effectively communicating to clients

What We Are Looking For

  • A commitment to demonstrating CMHC values
  • A University Degree in Marketing, Business, Journalism or Communications with a minimum ten (10) years relevant work experience with progressive responsibility. Product marketing experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • A Masters in Business Administration would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a comprehensive strategic communications group to advance the commercial business lines mission and goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of communication and marketing strategies and plans, specifically those focussed on the finance sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications and marketing operations in a commercial or private sector environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic advice, guidance and services to executive management on various complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead innovation process, thinking creatively and driving continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly, succinctly and persuasively with/for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal (judgment, tact, diplomacy) and relationship-building skills.
