Job Description

The Associate Director is a key member of the Direct & Digital Marketing (DDM) team and is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies and best-in-class creative that will increase the engagement and Life Time Value of SKF donors at each stage of the donor journey.  With an emphasis on the recurring donor base, the Associate Director will develop and implement fully integrated direct response campaigns, with an increasing emphasis on digital marketing, social media and email for engagement, retention, win-back and revenue generation. The position reports to the Director, Direct and Digital Marketing.


Specific duties include:

  • Develop strategies for the monthly donor and single gift retention portfolio, in collaboration with the Director of DDM
  • Manage external agency partners to oversee and develop end-to-end marketing campaigns from the brief to creative development, program execution and post analysis
  • Execute innovative and results-driven integrated marketing campaigns that include digital, social, email, telemarketing and direct mail
  • Lead ongoing development and testing of comprehensive monthly donor journey
  • Lead the development of the single-gift donor journey
  • Create and manage detailed project timelines to ensure on-time execution of campaigns
  • Plan and manage a comprehensive telemarketing program to generate single gifts, monthly donor upgrades, conversion to monthly and win back
  • Develop revenue/expense forecasts
  • Responsible for management of one direct report including work allocation, professional development, and all performance management
  • Foster cooperative relations with other Foundation teams to share learning and activate retention and stewardship initiatives
  • Work closely with business analyst to optimize and develop KPI reports
  • Monitor and report on results and make recommendations to optimize retention
  • Gather and present competitive analysis and new ideas


The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • University degree, with an MBA an asset
  • 6 -8 years relevant experience as an exceptional marketer with proven experience of developing exceptional programs and campaigns that have driven results
  • Experience with donor/customer engagement & retention programs
  • Strong knowledge of direct & digital marketing principles and best practices and demonstrated experience in all channels
  • Demonstrated ability to identify strategic business development opportunities and develop/lead such initiatives
  • Experience leading and developing end-to-end integrated campaigns and programs (direct, digital, social, email)
  • Strong business, data and financial acumen with advanced analytical and financial modelling experience
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Experience with results tracking, analysis and budget control reporting
  • Superior communication skills in addition to well-developed presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated experience managing external partners, including creative agencies and executional partners
  • Proven track record as a skilled leader who motivates high-performing teams, which may consists of peers and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to set priorities and complete work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge or experience with Not-for-Profit environment an asset
