Founded in 1959, York is Canada’s third largest university and is shaping the global thinkers who will define tomorrow. Launched in early 2015, and already one of the largest schools in Canada, the new School of Continuing Studies has fast become a leader in innovation and design in higher education. With pioneering modern program designs, engagement of industry thought-leaders, and cutting-edge programs that meet our economy’s largest skill gaps, the School has stepped up to meet the needs of international and adult students as well as employers. Exponential growth in the last two years, and the development of a strong brand (recognized in the local, national and international markets), provides a solid base upon which this new role will lead the research and development function.
The University is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the market research and the design of new continuing professional education programs. Reporting to the Director, Continuing Professional Education, and working with a team of educational leaders, the Senior Market Research Analyst will drive the growth of the portfolio by researching employment and sector-based trends; identifying gaps for program research; conducting secondary and primary market research on new program concepts; liaising with industry thought leaders; leading design thinking processes; proposing designs and content for new programs; testing program prototypes; and building business cases for new programs.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a solid research and development background and a graduate degree. You have a deep curiosity about consumer behaviour, and are driven to translate your knowledge into successful product launches. With a solid track-record in qualitative and quantitative market research, you are about more than the numbers. You bring your resourcefulness, creativity, business acumen, and acute critical thinking skills to bear on identifying solutions and creating viable proposals. You are a clear communicator, able to deal with a plethora of internal and external partners, and you bring a great sense of humour to all of your relationships.
With an appetite for challenge and rapid experimentation, you are excited by the opportunity to play a key role in building something of consequence at a premier institution.
