This role is as challenging as it is rewarding. As an entry-level sales rep, you will be the face of both our company, and TELUS Communications. We are the premier vendor of TELUS Optik TV, Internet, voice and data solutions.
Since the prospecting has already been done, the role is intensely customer service focused and begins with you making a great first impression on all potential customers. From there, you will need to assess their needs, wants and any challenges they’re currently having, then educate them on our products and current technology in the marketplace. Your objective is to provide them with the most practical and effective solution to make their lives more enjoyable, convenient and hassle free. When you get there, you write the order.
In every campaign, the position starts with a job shadow, and moves forward into daily, ongoing training and as much support as you require until you’re confident in your ability, and an effective closer. You will learn how to manage the entire sales cycle from start to finish. You will learn how to cold call and warm call. You will learn what we call education based, consultative selling, and how to handle objections. You will learn to write customer orders on iPad (which we provide), and use SalesForce and an Upstat Marketing exclusive web portal to manage your workflow. You will gain a wealth of knowledge and skills you didn’t have before, as well as industry recognized resume experience.
We understand that the challenge of a new job, learning new skills, making new friends, the idea of cold calling, handling objections – all of these things can be daunting, and we’re the first to admit that getting started out, the hours can be long and the learning curve steep. That’s why this position is now offered as Base + Commission. We’ve found that offering base can really take the pressure off, especially in the beginning, and allow you to focus your energy and attention on what really matters – learning and developing your new skills.
So here’s the deal, what we really need in a good candidate is strong communication skills, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and stretch yourself, a love for technology, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, to be 18 or older and pass a background check. The absolute best trait we can ask for is a solid work ethic!
